Special Projects Last Week: Study Abroad Presentation via Skype.
On Thursday, October 14, I assisted Martivon Galindo in a Study Abroad presentation using Skype. The presenter, Jennifer Larson of Central College, presented on Central College’s Study Abroad program from her office in Iowa!
Skype is free software used for video and voice chat, instant messaging, and sharing files, as well as other useful communication features.
For the presentation, a Skype video chat was setup on a MacBook and projected on the SmartBoard in the HEDCO Technology Support Center. The students were able to see Jennifer on the SmartBoard and the MacBook’s built-in camera also allowed Jennifer to see the students. Students used the MacBook’s built-in microphone to ask her questions. It was a very dynamic and interactive presentation!
